OG+Byram Ssales Sans West Nile Virus

Gwich Ave sidewalk sales last weekend and old Greenwich and Byram Ssales (Ssales=sidewalk sales) this weekend- could July get any better?!

So the marathon shopping of the sidewalk sales from dawn to dusk last weekend hurdled me right into a fit of fever, exhaustion and total dehydration. What began with a bug bite and turned into a swollen lymph node, I was being accused of being overly dramatic (me?) when I drove myself to the ER at Greenwich Hospital. Whipping into the valet parking, iPad in hand and blue tooth fully activated-I didn't see a reason to shut down shop just because of a little fever, so why not carry on from the hospital bed? Ten minutes and three doctors later, my iPad was forced to power off as they listened to my heartbeat and examined the swolleness of my perfectly moisturized throat. I was starting to get nervous as Dr. Magic's eyebrows narrowed with concern - staring directly into his emerald green eyes I blurted out the one question that I needed an answer to and the only one I cared about, "AM I DYING?!!!" It certainly felt like I was. I was terrified. Wildly amused and trying not to laugh, Dr. Magic patted my shoulder and reassured me that I was going to be 'just fine.' So while he advised that it is best that I not push myself out of excitement when sales arrive, I resisted the urge to confide in him that AND (ssales=sidewalk sales, obvi) were this coming weekend. Biting my tongue and trying my best to keep it to myself, I began plotting the attack for this weekend as I reveled in visions of myself wearing the amazing sugar lips ribbed tanks in every color of the rainbow that are being sold for a low $15 (versus the usual $25) at the secret little gem of a store in Byram aka '' (the 'hottest tween' store in this zip). After being told that I was going to in fact survive, I ran out of the ER and handed my valet ticket over as the cute, 20-something male nurse came running after me, "GG!!! I think you forgot one thing," and with that he generously handed me my beloved iPad that I had shockingly left behind. Clearly, I was out of sorts. So after taking a few days to myself it's now Friday night and I am staying in, counting down the hours as I watch the DVR'd episodes of my fav shows and mentally planning my day tomorrow. Starting with Byram and making my way to Old Greenwich my excitement for the day is growing by the minute. As I fast forward the commercials and blast through my emails I couldn't help but notice the headline of one from my fav news source, the Patch Greenwich: 'Breaking news: west Nile virus hits Greenwich.' Of course the minute I read this headline it was as if someone had cracked the very Davinci code itself: the fever and body chills could now finally be accounted for: I definitely had west nile. Thrilled (rather than terrified) that a credible resource was confirming my symptoms to not have been hypochondriacthical (hypochondriac plus theatrical, yes I made that word up but it totally applies) I decided that calling my doctor (who happened to be on emergency call) was appropriate-after all, this was an emergency, how would I hit the Ssales if I was on my deathbed with west Nile? Once again assuring me that I was not infected (and scolding me for considering this an emergency) I reluctantly hung up the phone and turned in for the exciting day ahead. Not only are there Ssales in both Byram and Old Greenwich but the annual Old Greenwich block party, full of live music, free goodies and much more, is being held Saturday starting at 3pm. So for those of you out there who may be suffering from similar symptoms, which I have now been told are normal "due to the temperature change between the AC and humid outdoors" rest assured that you are most likely not infected with the WN and that Saturday will be just as successful as the avenue Ssales of last weekend. Stay tuned for deets as I will be obviously reporting live tomorrow. PS: don't forget to hit up -not only to pop a chocolate truffle or two but is providing cake pops and other treats that already make Darlene's my number one go-to. Saturday cannot get here fast enough. xx Greenwich Girl. Sent (with love, obvi) from my amazingly adorable iPad. xx In Greenwich since 1986.
