Please Vote for Dave Rafferty

I am proud to endorse my friend David Rafferty for Representative of the 151st General Assembly District. I have known Dave for 10 years through coaching and other volunteer activities and have always been impressed with his intelligence, passion and desire to serve his community.  The nature of Dave’s volunteer activities, including President of the Old Greenwich Association and leader of various PTA’s in the district, aren’t the glamorous positions that would snag you a photo op in Greenwich Magazine. They are, however, the type of organizations that get meaningful things done for our community.

It is impossible to talk to Dave for any length of time and not be impressed with his intellect. Dave can discuss an extremely wide range of issues with depth and compassion and, while we see things from a similar political bent, he is an independent thinker who will always place his community over party in Hartford.  Dave is not and will never be an ideologue. For anyone unaware or concerned about the dangers (and power) of ideology at the state legislature level, I recommend they view Bill Moyers’ PBS series “The United States of ALEC” on YouTube and ask themselves if this was the vision of our founding fathers and the path we want to continue on?  And what does Dave's opponent think of this vision?

In addition, while this may not be fair to any one incumbent, it is a political reality that currently no member of the Greenwich delegation caucuses with the current and future majority in the House and Senate in Hartford. This handicaps Greenwich, and other towns and cities of Fairfield County, from getting our voices heard at the important “agenda setting” level.  While it would be great to have our entire delegation in the Democratic caucuses, Dave would be a perfect advocate for local issues that may run contrary to the Party’s positions.

Please vote for Dave Rafferty for State Representative for the 151st District on November 6th.
