MacInspires Tech, Steph's iPad Dilemma

MacInspires Tech Steph weighs the pros and cons of buying an iPad.

I have come across a new dilemma in my life and I guess it’s a good problem to have, and I feel like it’s something that many people have thought about as well.

I’ve been thinking of getting an iPad for a while now and I don’t know what kind I would get.  My first problem with getting an iPad is that it is not really cost effective for me as I already have an iPhone and a laptop, yet there are some compelling reasons that it may be useful.

For a while now I have wanted an iPad to play music in my room, use it as my alarm clock, take it to the kitchen so I can see my recipes while I cook and to easily check out the weather on my weather puppy app. Some of the advantages an iPad has that I really like that it has a much bigger screen than my iPhone and that it is easier to hold than my Macbook Pro. My only concern is what else could I use it for and is it really worth investing on?

I want to put it to good use and find a day to day use for it just like I do for my other two Apple devices. I don’t want to feel like I’m wasting my money so I would really have to give this some thought.

Now that i think about it, playing music in my room through a docking station would be really cool, I would consider saving up for one just for that reason. I would really really like to use it when I cook. I can watch my fav chef Giada De Laurentiis cook while I follow along, that to me would be amazing. I also could use it to map out my runs as it’s probably easier to do it on something that is always on and easy to access and use rather than waiting for my Computer to start up. It is much easier to map streets on a bigger screen. I know that for me nothing beats the smell of a book but I kinda like the fact that I can also use my iPad to read. All I have to do is basically swipe my finger to turn the page. I could also use it to get children books to read to my son, Justin, at night as he would love that...

Now i really want this thing.  Well now that I have decided I guess the really hard decision starts... What about protection? Should I put a case on it? Harder yet, what color case do I want? Oh boy...
