A. Christine (Chris) Kyne Browne (nee Munnelly) lost her courageous battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at her home in New York City, surrounded by her family on June 6, 2014. She was 82.

Chris was born in Killala, County Mayo, Ireland on December 27, 1931, to the late George and Mary (nee Langan) Munnelly.

Chris attended school in Ireland and decided in 1950 to immigrate across the pond to America at the age of 19 in search of employment. Upon arriving in America, Chris settled in Greenwich, CT, where she had numerous family members.

Chris is survived by her son, Martin Kyne (Diane) and two granddaughters, Sydney Marie Kyne and Halle Anne Kyne; brother, Robert Munnelly, County Meath, Ireland; sister, Phyllis Lavin, County Mayo, Ireland. Chris is survived by six step children and eight step grandchildren. Chris is also survived by six Godchildren, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she could name.

Chris was predeceased by her first husband, Michael Kyne on May 28, 1978 and by her second husband, Michael Browne on May 24, 2014. Chris was also predeceased by her beloved children, Michael Kyne in 1985 and Mary Kyne in 2003; and, sister Nora Kearney, County Mayo, Ireland in 2014.

For decades, Chris was employed by Greenwich Trust Company, later known as Bank of America, located on Greenwich Avenue, as Credit Manager. Chris was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church since 1950 and later attended St. Helena's Church, in addition to attending St. Mary's. She will be remembered for her Catholic faith which sustained her through many losses in her lifetime.

Chris was a 60-year plus member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and during the 1970's served for five years as the organization's Chairwoman for Fairfield County. Chris had many fond memories of the monthly dinner dances put on by the Hibernians as well as the cultural and educational activities of the organization.

Chris was always ready to meet new people and has enjoyed friendships lasting more than 50 years with Bernadette Munnelly, Annette Scanlon and Anne McGovern. Chris always seemed to have a bag packed for travel, be it to visit her grandchildren in Boston, go off to Nantucket with the girls or to go home to her family in Ireland. Chris was a loving, devoted and engaging woman who always put the needs of her family and friends before her own. It was a blessing to know her and Chris will be missed more than words can say.

The family will receive friends at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich, on Wednesday, June 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 12, at 10 am at St. Mary's Church, Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT. Burial will be private at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich. Immediately following the Mass, friends are invited to join the family at the Knights of Columbus Hall, located at 37 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich.
