Carmela Ambrogio, 83, 'Phenomenal Cook, Seamstress'

Calling hours for mother of Greenwich resident set for Friday evening.

 

Carmela Ambrogio, 83, of Port Chester, New York, died peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2012.

Born Carmela Cutroni in Pozzo di Cotto, Messina, Sicily on July 21, 1929, daughter of the late Teresa Lanza and Felippo Cutroni. She was predeceased by her brother and sister, Antonio Cutroni and Anna Cutroni and sister-in-law, Mary Lagana.

She is survived by her beloved spouse of 55 years, Carmelo Ambrogio of Port Chester, NY; her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mike Zohdy and her two grandchildren, Matthew, 21 and Mark, 14 of Greenwich. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Joseph Ambrogio and his wife, Nancy, brother-in-law, Rocco Lagana and several nieces and nephews.


She moved to the US from Canada in May 1957. She was a talented seamstress and worked at Kaychester Ladies Garment Co. for more than 20 years. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother who will be missed tremendously by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was known for being a phenomenal cook and seamstress and loved to prepare extravagant meals and sew in her free time.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10:00 am in St. Roch's Church,10 St. Roch Ave., Greenwich. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at St. Mary Cemetery, Greenwich.
