Frank Henderson Jr., 83, former US LIfe Insurance Executive

Memorial service set for Saturday.

 

Frank I. Henderson Jr., 83, died peacefully at home on Nov. 25, 2012.

An active, lifelong Greenwich resident, Frank was the second son born to Frank I. and Adelaide Wilmot Henderson on Dec. 24, 1928.

He attended Riverside School and Greenwich High School before joining the Marines in 1946. He was honorably discharged in 1948 and received the Victory Medal.

Following his service, he enrolled at Roanoke College, and graduated with a degree in economics in 1952. He then began a career in insurance, culminating in his appointment as President, CEO, and member of the Board of Directors of United States Life Insurance. He was also designated as a Certified Life Underwriter.

Mr. Henderson married Elizabeth Hassan on Aug. 26, 1950, and had three sons: Jeffrey, Mark, and David.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth; his son, Jeffrey, and his brother, William.

Mr. Henderson will be dearly missed by sons Mark (Marie) of Riverside, David (Dana) of Southbury, daughter-in-law Pamela of Stamford, as well as his forever-grateful grandchildren Alyssa (Michael Morrison), Jacquelyn (Randall Ingham), Samantha (Thomas McCarthy), Andrea, Alex, Kara, Michael, Christopher, and Bryan (Whitley). He also is survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will take place at First Congregational Church, 108 Sound Beach Avenue, Old Greenwich, on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Henderson’s memory may be made to MADD.
