Mary Ann Clayton, Former Greenwich Resident

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 25 with the funeral set for Saturday, April 26.


Mary Ann (Meany) Clayton died on April 21, 2014 at her home in South Yarmouth, MA.

She lived on City Island, NY until she married her husband, Dr. James Clayton, 60 years ago. They raised their six children in Greenwich. She and her husband retired 20 years ago to Cape Cod, having vacationed there for 20 years. She became an ardent golfer and played with the Lady Niners at Bass River Golf Course. She was a member of Saint Pius X Church in South Yarmouth and formerly a member of St. Agnes Church in Greenwich, CT.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her six children; Kathleen Bloom, Joanne D'Anna, Michael Clayton, Susan Ballou, Stephen Clayton and James Clayton. She is also survived by her two sisters, one brother and 10 grandchildren.

Friends and relatives may call at the Fred D. Knapp & Son Funeral Home, 247 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich, from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, April 25. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 26, in St. Agnes Church, 247 Stanwich Rd., Greenwich.
