Obituary: Dorothy Novakowski, Greenwich Homemaker

Calling hours are scheduled for Monday evening with the funeral set for June 18.

Dorothy “Dottie” M. Novakowski passed away peacefully on June 12 at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY. She was 83.

Born April 14, 1930, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret Searles of Stamford. 

Dottie worked at Electrolux in Old Greenwich, where she met her late husband Edward J. Novakowski. They were married in May of 1953. Dottie enjoyed the rest of her life as a homemaker. She loved to decorate for the holidays and also loved to knit, cook and bake. Her life revolved around her husband, daughter and four grandsons.

Mrs. Novakowski is survived by a daughter Margaret M. Roszkowski and her son-in-law Walter, her four grandsons; Eddie, Justin, Adam and Dougie; a brother George Searles and a sister-in-law Frances, and also a sister in law Mary Novakowski and several nieces and nephews. 

She was pre deceased by her husband of 58 years Edward J. Novakowski; her son Edward J. Novakowski Jr. and four brothers; William, John, Kenneth and Robert.

Friends may call wake from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, June 17, at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave, Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Sacred Heart Church, 95 Henry St., Greenwich. Internment will follow the service in St. Mary Cemetery, Greenwich.

Memorials: In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
