American Flags on Mianus River Bridge Vandalized Again
Three of the 20 fiberglass flag poles that adorn the Mianus River bridge (10 per side) were bent or snapped by vandals sometime prior to midnight Sunday. However unlike the incident on July 3, no flags were taken.
The American Flags on the Mianus River Bridge on East Putnam Avenue were Sunday night.
According to a report in the Greenwich Post, three of the 20 fiberglass flag poles that adorn the bridge (10 per side) were bent or snapped by vandals sometime prior to midnight. However, unlike the vandalism incident on July 3, no flags were taken, according to the report by Post Editor Ken Borsuk.
As reported on Greenwich Patch, seven of the flags, which have been installed on the Mianus River Bridge since Memorial Day, were vandalized Tuesday, July 3.

Selectman David Theis, who spearheads the program to install the flags each year, said five fiberglass flag poles were damaged. In addition seven flags were either stolen or damaged. The flags and poles were replaced the following day.
The Cos Cob Fire Department, which this year provided the manpower and resources to install the flags on the bridge, has reportedly already replaced the three flag poles vandalized on Sunday.
