Drivers Face DWI, Harassment Charges

Weekend arrests by Greenwich Police.

A Bridgeport man who Greenwich Police say was observed crossing a double yellow line on Mill Street in Byram was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge.

Roger N. Santos, 36, who gave an address of 799 Capitol Ave., Bridgeport, was stopped by police shortly after 2:30 a.m. Nov. 27. He also was charged with failure to maintain a proper lane after police said he failed three field sobriety tests.

He was released after posting a $250 bond and scheduled to appear Dec. 12 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Greenwich man who was stopped by police for driving an unregistered motor vehicle was charged with 8 counts of second-degree harassment.

John W. Klokel, 63, who gave an address of 2 Putnam Green, Greenwich, was arrested after police discovered there was an arrest warrant for him. He also was charged with driving an unregistered motor vehicle on Nov. 25. Details on the harassment charges were not available, police said.

Klokel was released on a promise to appear Dec. 2 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Greenwich couple was arrested on disorderly conduct charges stemming from a domestic violence incident at the woman's Armstrong Court home.

Police said an argument between the couple became physical. The 24-year-old man and the 32-year-old woman each were charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the 4:15 a.m. incident Nov. 25. The woman also was charged with third-degree assault.

Both were released on promises to appear Nov. 28 in state Superior  Court in Stamford.

A 23-year-old Fairfield man was arrested on a second-degree breach of peace charge in connection with a bar fight at Mackenzie's Bar and Grill in Old Greenwich.

The arrest stems from a 1 a.m. fight Nov. 27 in which a male victim trying to break up the fight was hit on the head and face.

Christopher Andrea, who gave an address of 227 Berwick Ave., Fairfield, was released on a promise to appear Dec. 5 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Greenwich Police are investigating the theft of a ping-pong table from an outdoor display at the Patio.com store on 600 E. Putnam Ave. in Cos Cob. The theft of the table was reported shortly before noon on Nov. 26. The cost of the table was unavailable.

A racial epithet and references to marijuana and the 1970s band Shpongle were found written in chalk on the gazebo in Binney Park on Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich last week. Police said a town parks and recreation crew summoned police after discovering the graffiti about 11 a.m., Nov. 22. After police took pictures of the graffiti, the parks crew washed gazebo.
