Fallen Tree Blocks I-95 in Riverside [UPDATE]

Alternative traffic routes should be taken to avoid the backups on I-95.

Updated 10:38 a.m., July 11:
Connecticut Department of Transportation crews are cleaning up the debris from the tree that fell across northbound I-95 Exit 5 in Riverside.

From DOT cameras, one lane remains blocked. However, traffic is moving.

Original story:
A tree that fell atop the cab of a tanker truck has closed two lanes of the northbound Connecticut Turnpike in Riverside.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation video feed shows traffic backed up in both directions in the area of Exit 5 of I-95 at 8:50 a.m. Thursday.

According to WCBS 880, northbound traffic is backed up into Westchester County with two northbound lanes closed because of the fallen tree. And there's plenty of rubbernecking along with the regular traffic volume to back up the southbound lanes well into Stamford.

It was not immediately known if there were any injuries.

Patch will have more details as they become available.
