False Claim of Child Abuse Leads to Woman's Arrest

A 41-year-old woman is facing charges after Greenwich Police say she filed an unfounded claim of child abuse involving her child.

The woman was arrested March 6 on charges of second-degree falsely reporting an incident and interfering with an officer after being called to her North Water Street home in the Byram neighborhood of town. (Greenwich Patch is not identifying the woman to protect the identity of the child involved.)

After officers had determined that the woman's allegations were false, she reportedly "violently" resisted arrest, according to a police report.

She was unable to post  $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford.
