Greenwich FD Battling Backcountry House Fire


Multiple Greenwich Fire Department units are battling a house fire on Porchuck road in the backcountry area of Greenwich.

The fire was reported by a resident who called 911 and reported her home was on fire at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, according to emergency radio transmissions. Six minutes later fire personnel declared a structure fire. At 1:21 p.m., the fire was declared under control.

There are multiple engines and four tanker trucks at the scene. Greenwich Police have blocked traffic to Porchuck at Riversville Road and at Porchuck and North Porchuck roads. The Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol also was dispatched to the scene.

A fire marshal and building inspector have been called to the scene.

It was not immediately known if there were any injuries.
