Greenwich Officer Denied Request to Enter Family Violence Education Program

Request denied in the wake of allegations he used his power as a police officer to harass his ex-girlfriend, Greenwich Time reports.

A judge has reportedly denied Greenwich Police Officer Donnell Fludd's request to enter a family violence education program in the wake of .

According to a report in the Greenwich Time, State Superior Court Judge Donna Heller said "the issue here is that Officer Donnell Fludd is a police officer," during a hearing this past Wednesday in Bridgeport, at which the ex-girlfriend was present.

Fludd's lawyer, Darnell Crosland, told the paper "there was no basis for the denial."

"I think she didn't listen to the case," Crosland told Hearst papers outside the court. "There was nothing about the case that was so bad or out of the ordinary other than the fact Mr. Fludd is a police officer and I think that was quite vexing."

The judge's ruling can be appealed, according to the report. Should Fludd be allowed to complete a family violence education program, the charges would be dropped, and his record would remain clean.

As reported on Greenwich Patch, Fludd — co-founder of the — was arrested Feb. 20 by police and charged with second-degree stalking, disorderly conduct, second-degree harassment and first-degree unlawful restraint, in connection with allegations made by his ex-girlfriend.

At the time of Fludd's arrest, Greenwich police issued a statement that the ex-girlfiend's allegation "centered on a dating relationship which had deteriorated to a possible criminal level."

During the hearing on Wednesday, the ex-girlfirned reportedly testified that she doesn't feel safe when walking out.

Fludd, a resident of West Haven, has been on administrative leave since his arrest.
