Registration is open for the popular classes that fill up quickly.

The Greenwich Police Department is accepting applications for the 2014 Spring program is open to female applicants between 18 to 55 years. The classes will begin Monday, May 19.

Class will meet twice a week 6 to 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 to 9:15 p.m. at the Greenwich Police Department. Applicants may request which class is preferred.

During the month of May, the classes will meet on Monday and Wednesday. During the month of June the classes will meet on Tuesday and Thursday. Graduation will be held on Thursday, June 19.

The defense class enables participants to learn proven techniques that will both bolster their confidence in self-defense situations and overcome physical and psychological situations.

Instructors for the program are highly-trained and experienced Greenwich Police officers.

Greenwich applicants will receive priority consideration. There is no fee for the program however; the Department requests that applicants be committed to the full five week program. The class size is limited to 40 students. Due to the high demand for this course, if necessary qualified applicants will be subject to a lottery drawing to determine the final class roster.

A criminal history background check will be performed on all applicants. Accepted recruits will be contacted during the week of May 5.

Please email all registration, preferred class time and inquiries to the Greenwich Police Department Community Impact Section. The session coordinator is Sgt. John Thorme who may be reached at  JThorme@GreenwichCT.Org.
