Greenwich Police Have Their Super Bowl Sunday Game Plan

DWI enforcement effort planned for Sunday.

With their sights set on becoming the titans of football, both the New York Giants and the New England Patriots have their game plans for Super Bowl Sunday.

And not to be outdone, Greenwich Police have their own game plan ... which means Super Bowl fans in town better have a Plan B.

"We are going to have saturation patrols from before the game to after the game," said Sgt. John Slusarz, head of the traffic division. "We will be giving up our Super Bowl Sunday to keep the roads safe."

Slusarz said the effort on Sunday is being funded from a federal grant that has allowed the department to assign officers to patrols specifically looking for drunk drivers on holiday weekends and other special days when drinking is prevalent.

Slusarz would not identify where patrols would be set up, other than to say they'll concentrate on areas where throughout Greenwich where drunk drivers have been caught.

"We hope everybody enjoys themselves but that they be careful," Slusarz said. He suggested football fans have a designated driver or find alternate transporation plans rather than driving after partying.
