Six Drivers Face DWI Arrests in Greenwich

Greenwich Police nabbed six drivers on operating under the influence and other motor vehicle and drugs and weapons related charges during the Thanksgiving holiday week that ended at midnight Dec. 1.

  • Angeline Plancher, 37, of Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, was arrested after an officer saw pull away from a stop sign at southbound Exit 2 of I-95 at a high rate of speed and then cross the double yellow line on Frontage Road about 12:30 a.m. Nov. 26. Plancher reportedly had glassy, bloodshot eyes, spoke extremely slowly, had an alcoholic beverage smell on her breath and failed field sobriety tests. She was charged with operating under the influence, speeding and failure to drive right. She was released after posting $250 bond and scheduled to appear Dec. 10 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

  • Andrea J. Matero, 36, of Pemberwick Road, Greenwich, was charged with operating under the influence and speeding between North Water Street and Holly Hill Lane about 2:40 a.m. Nov. 23. Matero reportedly had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and failed field sobriety tests. She posted a $250 bond and was scheduled to appear Dec. 2 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

  • Chiemi Nobunaga, 49, of Orchard Street, Cos Cob, was charged with failure to drive in proper lane and operating under the influence after she reportedly was seen several times crossing the double yellow line on North Street about 12:30 a.m. Nov. 24. She reportedly had an odor of alcoholic beverages on her breath and was failed field sobriety tests. She posted a $240 bond and was scheduled to appear Dec. 2 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

  • Cody Elise Grant, 22, of Elm Street, Stratford, was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, operating without a license, failure to drive in proper lane and operating under the influence about 3:15 a.m. Dec. 1. She was seen crossing the double yellow line on Delavan Avenue. When officers stopped her, they found she had red, glassy eyes and an odor of alcoholic beverages and failed field sobriety tests. A search of her car yielded Crossman BB gun in a driver's door side pocket. She posted a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear Dec. 16 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

  • A driver stopped for making an illegal left turn on Indian Field Road was charged with operating under the influence and failure to obey a traffic control sign about 2:30 a.m. Nov. 30. Steven Ramirez, 25, of Henry Street, Greenwich, was arrested after police found he had an odor of alcoholic beverages, glassy eyes and slurred speech. He also failed field sobriety tests. He posted a $260 bond and was scheduled to appear Dec. 12 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

  • William S. Jeffrey, 27, of Sinawoy Road, Cos Cob, was charged with operating under the influence, failure to drive in proper lane, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of narcotics following a motor vehicle crash on East Putnam Avenue at Overlook Drive about 2:20 p.m. Nov. 28. Police reported Jeffrey's speech was "extremely slurred" and he would "stare blankly off into the distance," he had difficulty answering questions and failed field sobriety tests. Police found he had hyperdermic needles hidden in one sock and a glassine bag filled with a white powder that tested positive for heroin, hidden in another sock. He posted a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Dec. 6 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
