Mailbox Damage Leads to a Neighbor's Arrest

Greenwich Police say they found a neighbor cleaning up shattered glass from around the damaged post box.


A Riverside woman went outside early Sunday morning to discover her mailbox damaged.

There was some shatter glass and a piece of car trim with the word 'Volvo' on it, according to a Greenwich Police report.

The unidentified resident of Blind Brook Road also happen to notice that a neighbor's car parked nearby was a Volvo and its rear window was shattered. So she called police.

According to the report, when officers arrived just before 8 a.m. April 13, they found a man cleaning up shattered glass from around the damaged mailbox.  The officers also found the rear window of his Volvo was shattered. The man reportedly admitted he was operating the vehicle that caused the damage.

So police charged Theodore M. Strathdee, 54, of 74 Summit Rd., Riverside, with evading responsibility and unsafe backing. Strathdee was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear April 21 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
