Man Faces DWI Charge After Car Crash


A driver, who Greenwich Police say crashed into a Chevy Suburban stopped for a traffic light on East Putnam Avenue near Overlook Drive late Friday, was arrested on a drunk driving charge.

According to a police report, Wangdu Tsering, 41, 58 Pemberwick Rd., Greenwich, was driving a Nissan Sentra at the time of the 11:12 p.m. crash on Sept. 27. Tsering was described in the report as "swaying, had bloodshot and watery eyes and smelled of alcoholic beverages ... and had slurred speech." Tsering reportedly failed field sobriety tests.

Tsering was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to carry insurance and following too close.

He was released on a $250 bond and scheduled to appear Oct. 14 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
