Police Investigate Greenwich Store Thefts

Greenwich Police are investigating thefts from two stores—including one a pharmacy where a couple with a child in a stroller were seen on surveillance video apparently shoplifting cosmetics.

According to Lt. Robert Berry, the man and woman were seen about 2:45 p.m. Aug. 19 inside the Walgreen's pharmacy, 1130 E. Putnam Ave., with the child and taking an unknown quantity of cosmetics. Police are reviewing the surveillance video to determine the couple's identity.

Management of Free People, a clothing boutique at 351 Greenwich Ave., reported that an employee confessed to stealing about $700 in merchandise—including necklaces, sweaters and other clothing, when confronted by store loss prevention personnel, Berry said. Police are applying for an arrest warrant in the case.
