Sunday’s incident is the latest in a string of armed robberies targeting Greenwich shops.
Two months ago at Riverside Commons, a man was arrested after a 24-hour CVS located eight doors away from the Radio Shack. The plaza is located directly across East Putnam Avenue from Exit 5 on and off ramps for Interstate 95, northbound and southbound. One month ago, two men who know each other were arrested following of chain stores on Greenwich Avenue — a CVS and a Subway restaurant — though each appears to have acted on his own.
Original Story
The Radio Shack store at 1265 E. Putnam Ave. was robbed Sunday afternoon by a man brandishing a handgun who ordered store employees into a back room.
The employees told police a black male wearing a full face mask entered the store at around 3:15 p.m., and after forcing them into the back room, stole an undetermined amount of cash. There were no injuries.
A description of a vehicle believed used by the gunman was broadcast after the robbery, but a news release from Lt. Kraig Gray, public information officer for Greenwich Police, said information about the vehicle was being investigated.
