Suspect Surrenders on Greenwich Robbery Charge

Greenwich Police say it appears the robbery was part of a suspected drug deal that turned into an armed confrontation.

A man for whom Greenwich Police obtained an arrest warrant charging him with robbery, has surrendered to police.

According to a statement released by Greenwich Police on Tuesday, the suspect is charged in connection with the March 2 robbery at a private residence on Hamilton Avenue in the Chickahominy neighborhood of town. "The investigation revealed that the robbery was part of a drug transaction that turned into an armed confrontation between the involved parties," police said in the statement.

A few days after the robbery, police arrested a suspect on charges he falsely reported an incident for reportedly telling police the incident was happenstance.

Raul A. Oliveros, 21, of 24/25 Exchange St., Port Chester, NY was charged with first-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny when he surrendered April 26. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear May 5 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
