Suspected Greenwich Shoplifter Faces Multiple Charges


A woman is facing several charges following an apparent shoplifting incident at the Hermes of Paris store on Greenwich Avenue.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the woman was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at the shop, located at 289 Greenwich Ave. 

Stephanie Gatto, 36, of West 23rd Street, New York City, was arrested by officers investigating a shoplifting incident at the Hermes shop, a block away from police headquarters, according to the report.

Gatto was charged with two counts each of fourth-degree larceny and illegal possession of narcotics and one count each of third-degree larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the report. She is accused of being in "possession of multiple stolen items from three different retail stores located on Greenwich Avenue," according to the report.

She also is accused of being "in possession of unprescribed controlled substances and drug paraphernalia," according to the report.

She posted a $5,000 bond and, according to Connecticut Judicial Branch records, is scheduled to appear Jan. 10 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
