An associate professor at UConn who is on administrative leave and on probation for charges stemming from being drunk and vandalizing several high-end cars in Greenwich last year, has been arrested in upstate Vernon, accused of spitting in the face of police officer who went to check on him in May and driving under the influence this past Saturday.

According to an NBC Connecticut report, a Vernon police officer stopped Gabriel Fenteany, 47, of Vernon, around 8:30 p.m. June 14 when he did not signal as he pulled off Route 30 and into the parking lot of his apartment complex, police said.

Fenteany failed a field sobriety test and was charged with driving under the influence and failure to signal turn. Bond was set at $2,500 for this charge.

According to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website, Fenteany is serving probation on the Greenwich car vandalism charges as well as assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest convictions dating back to 2012.
