Assistant Principal Is Appointed for International School at Dundee

Eugene Matejek has been appointed the new assistant principal of the International School at Dundee Elementary School.

The appointment has been announced by School Superintendent William S. McKersie. For Matejek the appointment will transfer him from New Lebanon Elementary School where he was the assistant principal and intervention specialist and IB Coordinator since 2008.

Matejek will be returning to the elementary school where he began his Greenwich career in 2001.

In a statement, McKersie said, “Mr. Matejek brings many skills to his new full-time administrative position at ISD. He is well-versed in the International Baccalaureate philosophy, which complements the ISD program perfectly, he is proficient in math instruction, the integration of technology in classroom instruction, the analysis of data to improve instruction, and he has mentored new teachers. He is a perfect fit for ISD. We are thrilled to keep Mr. Matejek as one of our emerging top leaders.”

In a statement, Matejek said, “An outstanding supervisor establishes an atmosphere where the staff can learn and grow. The supervisor is visible throughout the school and sincerely engages himself in a variety of experiences with the faculty and students, leading him to build a rapport with each individual. Through the supervisor’s guidance, a passion of teaching and learning is exhibited throughout the culture of the school.”

Matejek earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's degree in teaching, and a sixth-year degree in advanced studies in administration, all from Sacred Heart University. In his sixth-year degree program, Matejek was awarded the Outstanding Administrative Practicum Award.
