Frigid Weather Prompts Greenwich Public Schools To Cancel Monday's After-School Activities

Greenwich Public Schools are canceling all after-school activities in advance of predicted plummeting temperatures later Monday afternoon and evening.

Here is the announcement released by school officials at 10:27 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6.

"After consultation with Town Emergency Personnel and Greenwich Police Department, the Superintendent and Police Chief Heavey have agreed that ALL SCHOOL-RELATED ACTIVITIES AFTER 5:00 PM ARE CANCELLED FOR TODAY, Monday, January 6, 2014.

"Activities are being cancelled after 5pm due to the forecasted drop in temperature for this afternoon and anticipated poor and icy driving conditions."

This cancellation follows on the heels of the emergency closure Monday morning of Julian Curtiss School because of a water main break.
