New Drop-off and Parking Lot Taking Shape at North Street School

Vehicles will now use the Greenwich Animal Shelter driveway — just north of the existing main driveway — for all drops offs and pickups. In addition visitor parking will be accessed from the same driveway.

 

The will be completed by the opening of school this coming Tuesday, Aug. 28, district director of communications Kim Eves confirmed Wednesday.

The new configuration separates buses from cars and thus will improve traffic flow and safety. Vehicles will now use the Greenwich Animal Shelter driveway — just north of the existing main driveway — for all drops offs and pickups. In addition visitor parking will be accessed from the same driveway.

The project also involves the installation of a storm water retention system to collect runoff from the lot, as well as improved lighting.

The district decided last year to due to the fact that the permitting process had been delayed, thus bringing the bid process too close to construction time (the project had to be carried out during summer break so as to minimize disruptions). Nearly $500,000 was budgeted for the project.
