Caffeine & Carburetors

'Tis the season to be jolly despite the absence of traditional holiday folly. It’s nearly summertime when the livin’ is easy. Nearly summertime when graduates proudly toss their caps & wrinkle their gowns while vacationers think about leaving town and Gold Coast “gearheads” converge on downtown (New Canaan) to attend Caffeine & Carburetors.

To the uninitiated a big question mark must come to mind. Why even a Jeopardy champion may have difficulty making the connection between coffee and carburetors! With a little backstory from Mr. Doug Zumbach, the event's founder, it all begins to make sense. You see Mr. Zumbach himself is a life-long automobile collector and Motorsports enthusiast, as well as, an expert coffee connoisseur and roaster.

Over a decade ago, he decided to give up the daily grind of trekking to NYC to take up roasting, grinding, and brewing gourmet coffee. He is now the proud proprietor of the gourmet coffee house bearing his name located at 77 Pine Street in downtown New Canaan, CT. All things considered, C&C as it is known, seems entirely apropos.

On the cusp of all the seasonal hoopla, this Sunday’s C&C event coinciding with Father’s Day and gorgeous weather predicted, will find many enthusiasts savoring the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee wafting in the early morning air as they admire dozens of glistening automobiles spanning several generations and genres -- from antique American to high-performance European sports and luxury marques lining the picturesque blocks of downtown New Canaan.
