Greenwich qualified for the Class LL tournament two years ago with an 11-9 record, but last season the Cardinals slumped to a 4-16 finish.
With a victory on Friday, Greenwich (7-1) will double its win total from last year just nine games into the season.
All year, the Cardinals have made the most of their height advantage as they feature 6-foot-10 center Sean Kroon and 6-foot-5 forward Greg Donlic, who scored 23 points in the win over McMahon.
Darien may have trouble keeping up with the Rams on the boards, but the Blue Wave are coming off a win as they defeated archrival New Canaan 60-56 on Tuesday.
Not known for its basketball prowess, Darien improved to 2-6, which actually matches last season's win total for the Blue Wave (2-18).
On the girls side, Greenwich (1-9) looks to snap a nine-game losing streak when it visits Darien. The Cardinals came close on Tuesday, but suffered a 40-38 overtime loss to McMahon.
Darien is 4-5 following a 48-35 loss to New Canaan on Tuesday.

The Greenwich boys hockey team ended its slump in a big way Thursday, rolling to a 9-2 victory over Norwalk-McMahon.
The Cardinals snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 2-7.
Greenwich had lost its previous three games by one goal, including Wednesday's 6-5 loss to St. Joseph. In that contest, the Cardinals rallied from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game 5-5 in the third period, only to give up the winning goal with 15 seconds remaining.
