Greenwich Lax Defender Earns All-Star Honors at Union College

Union College sophomore Adam Sands earned league honors as his Dutchmen team heads to the second-round of the NCAA Division III Championship tournament on Saturday.


Six members of the Union College men's lacrosse team — including Adam Sands of Greenwich — have been selected to the All-Liberty League First Team.

Sophomore Adam Sands of Greenwich, was an unanimous selection by the league coaches for the post-season honors. The defender leads the Dutchmen team in caused turnovers (28) and stands fourth in ground balls (42).  He was named to the Liberty League All-Tournament Team and earned LL Honor Roll status as well. This is the second year Sands has been selected to the LL all-star team. He was a first team pick in 2013.

Ninth-ranked Union College (14-3) will host 12th-ranked Amherst College (15-4) in second round action of the NCAA Division III Championship on Saturday, May 10 at Union College. The winner will face either top-ranked RIT or 15th-ranked Ithaca in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 14.

Union advanced to the second round with a 24-4 victory over New England College on Wednesday, while Amherst rallied to defeat Colorado College, 13-10.
