Holiday Week Offers Plenty To Do Around Greenwich


Good morning Greenwich!

It's a short, hectic work week with the first night of Hanukkah beginning on Thanksgiving Eve. Greenwich Town Hall and Greenwich Public Schools will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 29. Greenwich schools will have early dismissal on Thanksgiving Eve. 

And it appears Mother Nature won't be cooperating on Tuesday and Wednesday for holiday travelers either. Here's the forecast from the National Weather Service.
  • Today: Increasing clouds, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
  • Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Southwest wind around 9 mph.
  • Tuesday: Rain likely, mainly after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Tuesday Night: Rain. Low around 42. East wind 9 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
  • Wednesday: Rain. High near 55. South wind 7 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
  • Wednesday Night: A chance of rain showers before midnight, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Thanksgiving Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 33.
  • Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 22.
  • Friday: Sunny, with a high near 36.
  • Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23.
  • Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 37.
  • Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.
 
Itsy Bitsy Play Group

For moms and their babies, Temple Sholom hosts a play group to help develop baby skills and offer friendship to mothers on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Thanksgiving Table Arrangement Workshop

The Garden Education Center of Greenwich with Ellen Avellino will host a holiday table arrangement workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 26. All materials and container will be provided to attendees who must pre-register.

Annual Reindeer Festival

The 5th Annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival & Santa’s Workshop at McArdle’s Florist & Garden Center, 48 Arch St., opens on Friday, Nov. 29 to Dec. 24.  At approximately 2 p.m. Friday Santa will arrive and parade down Greenwich Avenue with Dancer, Dasher, Prancer and Blitzen. Families can visit the reindeer and have their photo taken with Santa at his workshop.

Christmas Tree & Wreath Sale

First Congregational Church of Greenwich sale begins Saturday, Nov. 30 at 9 a.m. and the sale continues on Sunday, Dec. 1 and each weekend in December until the trees, wreaths, garlands and kissing balls run out.

Greenwich Alliance for Education Turkey Trot and Run

All runners and walkers are invited to participate in the Greenwich Alliance for Education's 3rd Annual Turkey Trot, to be held on Saturday, November, 30. The 1 mile fun run/walk will start at 9:30am and the 5K will start at 10:00am.
