Mechanical Problems Forces Cut in Greenwich Island Beach Ferry Service

The ferry service cuts are in effect this weekend.

The Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation announced Friday afternoon that "unforeseen mechanical issues" have forced the town's ferry, the Island Beach, to be taken out of service this weekend.

As a result, ferry service to Island Beach will run every hour on the hour starting at 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13.

Also, the “Jazz on the Sound” concert scheduled for Sunday, July 13, has been postponed to Sunday, July 20.

A message seeking additional information was sent to the Parks and Recreation Department.
