Kennedy died of an apparent suicide.
Updated, Noon, Thursday The Westchester County Medical Examiner's office released a statement Thursday afternoon saying Mary Kennedy's cause of death was asphyxiation due to hanging. Updated, 9 a.m. Thursday The New York Times is reporting that Kennedy's body was found hanging in a barn behind their home and that authorities who responded to the scene had attempted to cut her down and revive her. Kennedy apparently left a note. Authorities have not released a cause of death and an autopsy is scheduled for this morning. First story: Mary Kennedy, the 52-year-old estranged wife of Robert F. RE/MAX of New England reported a 3.8 percent increase, according to the Norwich Bulletin.
RE/MAX of New England reported this week that the number of homes in Connecticut sold during the month of April increased by 3.8 percent compared to the same last year, according to the Norwich Bulletin. Last month, 2,461 homes were sold, up from 2,371 last year. The median sale price, however, decreased by 0.4 percent and as well as inventory — from 31,883 to 28,133. Out of the six states in New England, New Hampshire saw the largest increase in sales at 20.2 percent, while Rhode Island showed the largest decline in prices at 5.8 percent. Massachusetts and Maine, in fact, were the only states that didn't see their home sale prices fall. Lions and tigers, and bears, oh my. Oh yes, there are bears in Greenwich. The Greenwich Conservation Commission has issued an alert on the Town of Greenwich website that "there have been a couple bear sightings in town this week." The posting, dated Monday, May 14, is based upon "anecdotal reports. We want to make sure that people know we have black bears in Greenwich. Some people sent a couple e-mails and they didn’t have specifics," said Denise Savageau, Greenwich Conservation director. Both Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraid Gray and state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection spokesman Dwayne Gardner said neither of their agencies have received reports of bruins in Greenwich. Greenwich PD: Suspect accused of continued stalking of victim.
A Greenwich man has been arrested on charges he violated a protective order and stalked a town resident. Robert Lee Jennings, 48, was arrested May 15 at his 28 Ridge St., residence by police who obtained an arrest warrant. Jenning was charged with first-degree stalking, second-degree breach of peace and violation of a protective order. According to Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray, Jennings stalked his victim, "almost under the same circumstances with the same victim several years" after the initial incident. The latest charges stem from a Feb. 19 incident for which Gray did not provide details. Jennings was released after posting $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear May 16 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Mary Kennedy, the 52-year-old estranged wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was found dead in her Bedford, NY home Wednesday. The Kennedy family released a statement to the press Wednesday evening: "We deeply regret the death of our beloved sister Mary, whose radiant and creative spirit will be sorely missed by those who loved her. Our heart goes out to her children who she loved without reservation. We have no further comment at this time." The Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed her death to Patch. According to Greenwich FD dispatches: 2 firefighters suffer minor injuries in house fire on Steep Hollow Road.
Greenwich firefighters are battling a house fire on Steep Hollow Road, off Cognewaugh Road in Cos Cob. According to fire dispatches and information from 911.com, two firefighters were transported to Stamford Hospital for "minor injuries" shortly about 6:45 p.m. Personnel are still extinguishing flames in the attic and basement of the home. Patch will post updates as they become available.

Thank you for your comments. The town's conservation officer says that many times people will leave phone messages (without call back numbers) or send emails w/ very vague info. That said, they err on the side of caution and treat each report legitimately. Do you see any harm in alerting residents that folks have seen a black bear even though specific addresses were not provided by the reporting …   more ›
