Palosz Investigation Shifts from District to Town Legal Dept.

A Friday afternoon email to local media from the Board of Education communication director, Kim Eves, described a shift in the investigation of Bart Palosz's public school experience. The statement sent on Friday at 4:53p.m. indicates the Town legal department will take over responsibility for the investigation from the School District. This investigation is separate from the Greenwich Police's investigation into possible criminal activity.
Palosz moved to Greenwich with his family in 2006 and attended New Lebanon Elementary School, Western Middle School and Greenwich High School, where he started his sophomore year on Aug. 27. Palosz took his life the first day of school.  He was 15.

Email statement from Board of Education to media on Friday, Sept. 6:
"The investigation into Bart Palosz's experiences in the Greenwich Public Schools is ongoing. This is a comprehensive and complex investigation that spans an extended period of time. The District is committed to a thoughtful and thorough investigation. The Greenwich Police Department has been conducting investigation into any possible criminal activity, with which we have been fully cooperating.

A separate investigation, initially started by the Greenwich Public Schools, now will be conducted by the Town of Greenwich Legal Department. The Legal Department will conduct an investigation that has strong objectivity and provides an appropriate level of dedicated professional time. The Town's legal department has experience in conducting similar investigations for other departments in an objective and ethical fashion."
