Greenwich September 11th Remembrance

Why Go: The Greenwich September 11th Remembrance Committee is holding its 10th annual event marking the 9/11 terrorist attacks at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 in front of Greenwich Town Hall. The event will honor the memory of those lost on this day, especially the 23 Greenwich residents who died, the victims at the Pentagon, and those aboard United Airlines flight 93. There will be a wreath and flower presentation, twenty-one-gun salute, and special tributes to remember the sacrifices made by the first responders who perished in the aftermath. Why Go: Greenwich Avenue will turn into a runway Thursday night between Lewis and Elm Streets.  Open houses at participating stores including giveaways, refreshments and more!

Why Go: The Bar-B-Q Pit Food booths, barbeque vendors, demonstrations and competitions with more than $20,000 in prizes. Organized by the Exchange Club of Norwalk and sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and New England Barbecue Society.

The 6th annual Greenwich Harbor Yacht Showcase - Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel

When: Friday Sept. 9 to Sunday, Sept. 11; Visitors can catch the first look at the yachts from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 at a kick-off preview party to benefit Audubon Greenwich and its conservation efforts in Long Island Sound. The showcase continues from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 11 at no charge.

Why Go: The showcase will feature complimentary family activities, and land exhibits ranging from fall fashion to a $2 million 1963 Corvette Rondine Concept Car. For more informaion, call 203-531-3047 or visit www.thedelamar.com.

Pricing: On Friday, September 9: admission is $75 per person and includes entertainment, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. No charge on Saturday Septemeber 10 and Sunday September 11.

Greenwich Polo Club - Conyers Farm, Greenwich, CT

When: Sunday, September 11, 1 - 5 p.m.

Why Go: An afternoon of polo and don't forget to stomp the divots.

In addition, the inaugural First Responders BBQ Benefit and Touch a Truck event will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with tickets ($50 adults, $20 children 6 to 12) can be purchased at the Greenwich Police Department, Greenwich Fire Department, GEMS headquarters, or Corbo’s Corner Deli. The proceeds are to benefit the Greenwich police and fire departments and Greenwich Emergency Services. The event will be held rain or shine. Limited tickets are available at the door.

Pricing: Gate fee is $40 per car (does not include special benefit above.)  Attendees may still bring their own picnics.
