Family Fun This Weekend

Schools had a short week and it is already the weekend! Has it stopped raining yet?

Greenwich Public School students just received an extended summer.

Here are some suggestions of what to do this weekend:

SPLURGE Kids GRAND OPENING - 60 Lewis Street, Greenwich, CT; 203-585-3363

When: Grand Opening Weekend with free activties (see below.) SPLURGE Kids is open Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday by appointment.

Why Go: Local musician Steve E. will delight children with his live music Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and again on Saturday from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Highlights also include artistic activities for kids from Greenwich’s Green Moon on Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and a free photo session with Megan Dey Photography of Darien from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. There will be free face painting and a free candy station both days!

Pricing: Activities are free; During the grand opening weekend, Friday and Saturday, September 9-10, SPLURGE Kids will donate 20 percent of its sales to Kids in Crisis.

Why Go: The Bar-B-Q Pit Food booths, barbeque vendors, demonstrations and competitions with more than $20,000 in prizes. Organized by the Exchange Club of Norwalk and sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and New England Barbecue Society.

Cos Cob Library Annual Open House/Book Sale - , 5 Sinawoy Rd., Cos Cob; 203-622-6883

When: Saturday, Sept. 10; 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.; Community Room of the Cos Cob Library.

Why Go: Please come and join the fun when the Friends of the Cos Cob Library host the Annual Cos Cob Library Open House community celebration of "One World, Many Stories" with live music, crafts, games, refreshments, and much more. In addition, the Cos Cob Library will have its Annual Book Sale with a preview sale beginning at 11:00 a.m. ($10 admission fee for non-Friends of the Cos Cob Library) and open to the public for free from 12 noon - 3:30 p.m.
